Best Practice takes over Bread & Butter residential project

Bread & Butter, a residential project by Best Practice Architecture, unfolds as a culmination of a fourteen-year collaboration with the property’s homeowners in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood of Seattle. The homeowners, both structural engineers, acquired a craftsman-style house in 2009, opting for a gradual remodeling process. The initial phases focused on restoring the original craftsman features while introducing contemporary elements. Commencing with an entry porch remodel and a distinct paint scheme in phase one, the project continued to phase two, addressing the main floor’s expansion and modernization.

renovation blends craftsman style with modern touches

The final phase, completed in 2020, involved a second-floor addition and a new garage, designed as two distinct yet harmonious contemporary volumes. The primary volume houses the main bedroom and home office, while the second accommodates a spa-like bathroom and walk-in closet. The interiors by Best Practice Architecture blend craftsman style with modern touches, featuring vibrant elements like seafoam green tiles and a colorful children’s room. The garage, showcasing the family’s structural engineering expertise, incorporates a 13-foot concrete wall and allows for future flexibility with a potential accommodation unit.
