MATTERIA Unveils CT House standing in Barra da Tijuca

MATTERIA, a Rio de Janeiro-based architecture and urban design firm, introduces its inaugural project, CT House, situated in the Modernist neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca. This residence, located within a residential compound on a 630 sqm plot, adheres to site constraints and guidelines while showcasing a deliberate simplicity in materials and geometry. Constructed primarily in reinforced concrete and masonry, the monolithic structure features spacious interiors with seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces. The two-level floorplan delineates communal and private areas, with the ground floor hosting living spaces, an office, a kitchen, and gardens surrounding the building. The upper floor accommodates four suites, each with its terrace, connected to the lower areas through recessed volumes and elevated gardens.

The facade exhibits a pronounced horizontality, with exposed concrete beams and wood in covered areas. Notably, the roof incorporates 31 solar panels, contributing to energy sustainability. Expansive window openings and sliding doors create a seamless connection to the surrounding gardens, promoting abundant natural light and cross-ventilation. The landscape, featuring diverse vegetation, further enhances the integration of nature with living spaces. The design team at MATTERIA opts for a neutral and natural palette, characterized by carefully chosen materials such as gray granite, concrete, and wooden panels, to create a cohesive aesthetic across the entire construction.
