Meyers Manx unveiled its new neighborhood electric vehicle, Resorter, which comes with a removable roof and can climb hills despite its dune-buggy style at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week 2023. Meyers Manx, who also introduced its electrified dune buggy from the 1960s in 2022, tailored the vehicle for city and short-distance driving. They infused it with a torquey, twin-motor electric drivetrain and an expanded four-seat layout to accommodate more passengers.

The bodywork of the Resorter NEV hides an aluminum monocoque chassis, four-wheel independent wishbone suspension, and pouch-cell lithium-ion batteries. The neighborhood electric vehicle is also equipped with standard A/C and heating, even if it can be roofless, power steering, and regenerative braking. Since it is more suitable for city cruising, Meyers Manx states that the buggy-looking Resorter NEV has a limited top speed of 25 mph.

Open-air cruising with doorless layout and removable roof

It might look small, but the Resorter NEV by Meyers Manx can climb steep hills with its hill-climbing capability and brisk acceleration. This feature somehow still brings the adventurous spirit of buggies but on roads and streets rather than dunes and earthy paths. A vibrant orange interior laced with mesh material stuns viewers with its vivid shade, contrasting the soft gray of the exterior. Even the steering wheel shares the same palette, forming a continuous visual element.

The removable roof may come in handy depending on the weather. If it is too sunny or raining, the driver can prop it up by folding up the front windshield and inserting the roof poles. For open-air cruising, the Resorter NEV and its doorless layout welcome the breeze and offer scenic viewing to both the driver and passengers. As of publishing the story, Meyers Manx states that the neighborhood electric vehicle will have a price tag of 49,000 USD, and fans can already pre-reserve it for 500 USD.
