Gaetano Pesce receives Andrée Putman Lifetime Achievement Award

Renowned Italian architect and designer Gaetano Pesce has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Andrée Putman Lifetime Achievement Award to be presented during the Créateurs Design Awards ceremony on January 20, 2024, in Paris. With a remarkable six-decade career that encompasses architecture, urban planning, interior design, exhibitions, and industrial design, Pesce’s global portfolio boasts a multitude of designs that express his ability to experiment with new materials and shape and his creative curiosity.

In an interview with designboom, when asked what his strongest skill is, Gaetano Pesce said,‘I think if you are curious, it’s a very important quality. Curiosity is a spring for going on in history, in the future, and in the present. Curiosity pushes mentality, which pushes ideas to be discovered. Even now, I am very curious. When there is something I don’t understand, I try to understand. That is a very healthy attitude for a creative person.’

Throughout his career, Pesce has consistently adhered to his core belief: modernism transcends mere style and serves as a method for interpreting the present while offering glimpses of the future, all while celebrating individuality. Over the years, he has engaged in collaborations with a multitude of creative minds and renowned brands, and 2023 has proven to be quite an active year for iconic partnerships. His recent ventures encompass an expansive cavernous environment for the Bottega Veneta store in Milan, as well as a vibrant exhibition of his radical works organized by Meritalia at Triennale Milano.
