Xencelabs was founded in 2019 by professionals with experience that spans varied disciplines in industrial design, animation, VFX, illustration, software, engineering, IT, sales, marketing, government, and education. The US-based company emerged on the creative tech scene with a clear vision: facilitate artistic expression through the creation of intuitive and comfortable digital drawing tools. Its name derives from the word ‘sense’ with the ‘labs’ suffix a nod to their collaborative spirit, where technical expertise combines the artistic experience.

‘We needed to have a name that reflected who we are, that helped to communicate what we aspire to, and what we aspire for our artists, customers. We knew we wanted to combine something around the emotional aspect, the senses and something around the technology,’ says Michael Thompson, Head of Global Product at Xencelabs.

‘Our philosophy is that the customer, more or less, does not even notice that he’s using a pen display. He can simply create his artwork completely free withouting thinking about the next stroke. The 24-inch display strikes a balance between freeing up desk space and providing ample drawing area for artists to explore their visions. The carefully calibrated bezel width optimizes the active drawing space without compromising on palm support. Moreover, with the included tilt stand, users can easily adjust the display to suit their creative flow, from 16 degrees to 72 degrees, with a simple one-handed motion.

A high-quality magnesium alloy back housing not only enhances its appearance but also serves a functional purpose – saving fans for heat dissipation. The absence of noisy cooling fans ensures a serene working space, free from distractions. The Pen Display 24 includes two different-sized pens, accommodating diverse hand preferences.

To enhance productivity, Xencelabs introduces the Quick Keys Remote, featuring an industry-first OLED display showcasing key settings. The remote allows for quick access to 40 customizable shortcut settings per application, streamlining the workflow for artists and saving valuable time.

‘It’s very important for artists to be able to get comfortable. Many artists I know have problems with the wrist or problems with their necks or shoulders or something like this. So we really spent a lot of time thinking about how we can make this product more comfortable for an artist who’s using this product for 8, 10 or 12 hours a day,’ concludes Michael Thompson, Xencelabs’ Head of Global Product.
