New colored-carbon fiber supercar BAC Mono R

British car manufacturer Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) has created a Hypetex-colored carbon fiber version of its Mono R supercar and reduced its weight by eliminating the need for paint. BAC’s streamlined and road-legal Mono, designed as a single-seater racer for demanding roads and tracks, weighs around 570 kilograms. Its Mono R sibling, created to be lighter than the standard model, weighs only 555 kilograms while boasting 343 bhp and a power-to-weight ratio of 618 bhp per tonne.

What sets the new and revamped BAC Mono R supercar apart is the elimination of the need for paint coatings in this model. Since no coating is applied, the net weight of the exterior is reduced compared to a painted shell. Color company Hypetex developed the technology. The team states that paint generally adds 138 grams per square meter, whereas Hypetex adds just 17 grams for the same area. Its paint-replacement method can help the colored carbon fiber supercar accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds.

crystallized lacquer for a shiny aesthetic finish

BAC Mono R with colored and titanium carbon fiber stands out with its glossy white palette contrasting with its black vehicle parts and touches of yellow. The supercar’s body, built by Formaplex, was created using Hypetex’s titanium carbon fiber twill, and the surface was finished with a crystallized lacquer to give it a shiny aesthetic finish. BAC Mono R features an imposing shark-nose front, a Formula-inspired ram-air inlet system, and a set of LED headlights centrally mounted on the nose of the colored carbon fiber supercar.

BAC says that Mono R has undergone numerous aerodynamic enhancements, including its front arches, wider sidepods, and a larger rear spoiler extending over the rear arches, all of which contribute to its aerodynamic efficiency. In addition to the new LED lights, the colored carbon fiber supercar’s twin-strut wing mirrors, rear crash box, and a narrower tail are incorporated with new LED combination fog and reverse lights to complete its look.

The bespoke version of BAC’s single-seater Mono R was created through BAC’s Bespoke program, which aims to produce no two Monos that are the same. The client of BAC Mono R is a US-based collector who worked with BAC’s design team to customize the car to their personal taste.
