World’s first transparent car display at ces 2024

Continental brings the dubbed world’s first transparent car display made of Swarovski crystal to CES 2024. The company teams up with Swarovski Mobility to create a frameless and semi-transparent look for the 10-inch, see-through car display. It surfaces through MicroLED technology, which helps the screen gain clear brightness and contrast for easy viewing. The panel, housed in carved Swarovski crystal, appears as if it were floating on the dashboard, given its translucent body with projected information.

CES 2024 seems to have entered the era of transparency since LG and Samsung also debuted their see-through display and TV that resemble holograms as the images, videos, and animations seemingly float on the glass-like screens. Continental and Swarovski follow in their footsteps, sharing the same bloodline of transparency, but this time, it is made of crystal, hangs right on the dashboard, and can perfectly suit any kind of cabin design given its lucidity that can mimic its surroundings.

Continental teams up with swarovski mobility

The dubbed world’s first see-through car display, named the Crystal Center Display, taps Swarovski Mobility to specially cut and develop the cabin accessory and technology for Continental. Since it reflects its environment in an organic way, the Swarovski-crystal car display can lend the interior a sense of minimalism and elegance with its unique cut and design.

As for its technology, the semi-transparent and floating display brings in-car virtual assistance systems to life, and Continental’s decision to employ MicroLED technology for the car display allows the accessory to offer sharp and detailed imagery. To achieve its geometric and lucid look, Swarovski Mobility’s team carves the volumetric crystal panel using in-house grinding techniques.

Continental joins to make sure that the optical and technical challenges of the world’s first transparent car display are overcome. As the two companies pool their expertise, the resulting Swarovski-crystal car display vividly allows the driver and passenger not only to see right through to the center console behind it but also to clearly read the imagery and information projected on the sculpted crystal.

Visitors to CES 2024 can see Continental’s dubbed world’s first transparent car display made of Swarovski crystal in Central Plaza across from the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 9th through January 12th, 2024. As of publishing the story, Continental is yet to announce the mass production of the see-through car display.
